The traditional SIA Charity Raffle, which took place at the 2022 Annual General Meeting and Conference, raised a record £1,425 for brain tumour research charity, Headcase Cancer Trust.
The charity, which raises money for research into Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is led by Colin Speirs, who spoke to us after the event.
Amazing People Doing Amazing Things.
Headcase was delighted and honoured to be invited, as guests, to the Solvents Industry Association Annual General Meeting and Conference at the end of September. The event was held in Cheshire at the Mottram Hall Hotel. The SIA does brilliant work for its members and the public and raises thousands of pounds for Charity each and every year.
So admit it, solvents are something you vaguely remember from chemistry lessons at school, or something to do with DIY tasks about the house, right? You’re not wrong, but solvents become much more interesting when you realise that they are also a key component of things like perfume… and gin!
Still, the main reason that Headcase attended the evening dinner was as the chosen Charity and to be presented with the proceeds from the raffle which is held each year (we even won a rather nice bottle of gin!). We’re delighted to tell you that after a brief talk about Headcase and its work, Head Fundraiser Colin Speirs was presented with a cheque for £1425, which is a) Amazing! and b) Beat the previous best amount raised by nearly 50%!
Even better is that we also made some great contacts at the event, that could really help with our upcoming first in human vaccine trial next year.
The Future Gets Written Today!
Many thanks also to Champney’s Mottram Hall, Alcohols Limited, HG & Company Limited, Elaflex Limited and the SIA for their kind donation of raffle prizes on the night.
